Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology is located in the Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand’s central North Island and is the country’s third-largest polytechnic, formed through the merger of Waiariki Institute of Technology and Bay of Plenty Polytechnic.
The school operates campuses in both Rotorua and Tauranga, offering a broad range of programmes from vocational certificates through to bachelor’s degrees and postgraduate qualifications. Toi Ohomai works closely with local industries and holds particular strengths in forestry, agriculture, tourism, and nursing.

Campus Locations
- Mokoia Campus (Rotorua)
- Location: Mokoia Drive, southern Rotorua, surrounded by forest and nature reserves, approximately five minutes’ drive from the city centre and lakefront.
- Programmes: Accounting, agriculture, business, health sciences, sport science, forestry and timber-related programmes, as well as automotive and beauty trade training.
- Highlights: The main campus, featuring modern teaching buildings, a “forest lodge” forestry centre, various practical training workshops, and the Tangatarua Marae, set within a beautiful natural environment with a strong hands-on learning atmosphere.

- Windermere Campus (Tauranga)
- Location: Poike area, southern Tauranga.
- Programmes: Accounting, agriculture, animal care and veterinary nursing, architecture and design, automotive studies, IT, creative arts, and more.
- Highlights: A comprehensively equipped campus featuring simulated trades workshops, laboratories, the Te Ara o Mauao creative arts building, an IT innovation centre, recording studios, a radio station, a heated swimming pool and gym, a restaurant, and a salon. One of Toi Ohomai’s flagship campuses.

- Tokoroa Campus
- Location: Central Tokoroa township, situated between Taupo and Hamilton in the heart of New Zealand’s pastoral, forestry, timber, and pulp industry belt.
- Programmes: Primarily automotive repair and carpentry/construction courses, closely aligned with local trade and construction employment needs.
- Highlights: A small, focused community campus, ideal for students looking to enter the agriculture, forestry, and timber industries in a quiet study environment.

- Taupo Campus
- Location: Teaching points distributed across Taupo township, delivering courses through local community and training partnerships.
- Programmes: Primarily automotive repair, carpentry and construction, Kaupapa Maori, Te Reo Maori, and selected online courses.
